Narain Biography

Narain, also known as Sunil Kumar is a successful actor of South Indian cinema. Yet he concentrates most on Malayalam cinema. He is most known for his supporting roles in Malayalam movies like Classmates and Achuvinte Amma. He debut film world with the movie, Adoor Gopalakrishnan's Nizhalkuthu (2002). Sunil Kumar was his name when he debut silver screen. His appearance in 4 the people, Classmates and Achuvinte Amma made Narain a household name of Malayalam cinema. Now he is a successful actor of Tamil movies as well. He debut Tamil in the year 2006 with the movie - Chithiram Pesuthadi. He received nomination of best supporting actor at Filmfare for his performance in Anjathe (2008).

Narain was born in Thrissur, Kerala on 7 October 1976 as the son of T. M. Ramakrishnan and Shantha Kumari. His schooling was completed in Abu Dhabi Model School. After completing a course in cinematography at the Adyar Film Institute, Narain worked as assistant director of Rajeev Menon. He appeared in a few television ads during this time. His first commercial film ‘4 The People ‘with the trendsetter song, Lajjavathiye was a sensational blockbuster. His role was a firebrand IPS officer Rajan Mathew. His role as Emmanuel John, in Achuvinte Amma needs special mention. He acted aside Urvasi and Meera Jasmine in this movie. After that he changed his name to Narain which proved successful too.

His pivot role in the movie ‘Classmates’ is the most significant one he played till now. Though he played second hero role in this movie, the unfolded love story of a Hindu boy and Muslim girl was the backbone of the success of this movie. This movie is regarded as the biggest campus movie of Malayalam. The top song of the year, ‘Ente khalbile’ was pictured on him. Other noted roles of Narain include – Ayaalum jnanum thammil, Veeraputhran, Kammath & Kammath, Minnaminnikoottam, Bhagyadevatha, Sheelabathi, Aaru Sundarimaarude Katha, Panthaya Kozhi, Ore kadal and Robinhood. He is married to Manju Haridas, a television anchor and singer.
