Nandini Sahu Biography

Nandini Sahu is a noted writer, poet and critic. She is also associate professor of English at the Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi at present. She is also the editor-in-chief of Interdisciplinary Journal of Literature And Language, New Delhi. She has published many books in English language. Her poetry is widely circulated in India, US, UK, Africa and Pakistan. She is the winner of two gold medals in English literature and also the award winner of All India Poetry Contest and Shiksha Ratna Purashkar. Her works include critic writings as well as poetry. Her maiden poetry work, The other voice is widely regarded as a milestone English poetry work in Indian literature.

 

Her critics works include - Recollection as Redemption, Post Modernist Delegations in English Language Teaching: The Quixotic Deluge, The Post Colonial Space: Writing the Self and The Nation, and Folklore and the Alternative Modernities in two volumes. The Other Voice, a collection of poems, The Silence, Silver Poems on My Lips, and Sukamaa and Other Poems are her famous poetry collections.

 

Sahu was born on July 23, 1973 in G. Udayagiri in Orissa as the daughter of teachers. She had 5 siblings and she was grown up in a family condition with strict obedience. She began writing at a younger age. She received her PhD degree on Indian English poetry under the guidance of Professor Niranjan Mohanty. She also obtained D.Litt, on Native American Literature. At present she attends national seminars and is an associate professor of English language at the Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. She has designed and developed programmes on Folklore and Culture studies for IGNOU.
