Nandan Nilekani Biography 
Nandan Nilekani is an Indian entrepreneur who is the Chairman of the new Unique Identification Authority of India, UIDAI. He was the former CEO of Infosys Technologies Ltd. He is heading the technology committee of Government of India.
He was born on 2nd June 1955 in Sirsi town in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. He is the younger son of Mohan Rao Nilekani and Durga. His father was working as General Manager of Mysore and Minerva Mills. His elder brother is Vijay who is working in the Nuclear Energy Institute.
Nandan Nilekani studied at St. Joseph High School at Dharwad. He got B. Tech degree at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in Mumbai. After spending twelve years at Bangalore he moved with his uncle’s family in Dharwad as his father was transferred. He married Rohini whom he met at an event at IIT and has two children Nihar and Janhavi. Both of them are studying at Yale University.
After his graduation in IIT Bombay in 1978, he joined Patni Computer Systems. He was interviewed by N. R. Narayana Murthy. After three years when Murthy walked out of Patni, his entire division walked out with him and they started their own company Infosys. Nilekani became the Chief Executive Officer of Infosys in March 2002. He served as the CEO of the company until April 2007 and became its Co-Chairman. He left the position to serve as the chairperson of the UIDAI on 9th July 2009. He got invitation from Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minster of India to serve in the rank of cabinet minister.
He was one of the founders of India’s National Association of Software and Service Companies and The IndUS Entrepreneurs. He got many awards that include Padma Bhushan award by Government of India in 2006. He received Legend in Leadership Award by Yale University, Asia’s Businessmen of the Year 2003 by Fortune magazine, Forbes Businessman of the Year for Asia in 2007, etc.
