Nandamuri Harikrishna Biography

Nandamuri Harikrishna is a noted Telugu actor and politician belonging to the illustrious Nandamuri film family. He is the son of legendary film artist and matinee idol - N. T. Rama Rao. Noted politician Daggubati Purandeswari is his sister. Nandamuri Balakrishna is his brother. Two sons – Junior NTR and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram born from two marriages are popular Telugu actors right now. One of his sons, Janaki Ram who was a producer died in an accident in 2014. Politician N. Chandrababu Naidu is his brother-in-law while actor Taraka Ratna is his nephew. Though Harikrishna is not so active in movies he is known for his assertive and powerful characters. He is best known as a child artist. He had a brief stint in politics associated with Telugu Desam Party founded by his father.

Born in Nimmakuru in 1956, he started his film journey as a child artist. He was born as the fourth son to N. T. Rama Rao – famous actor politician and Basava Tarakam. He had 11 siblings of whom Nandamuri Ramakrishna Sr died young. He married twice. He was first married to Lakshmi and had three sons including Kalyan Ram. Junior NTR was born from his second marriage with Shalini.

The Magnus opus Shri Krishnavataram - 1967 Telugu film directed by Kamalakara Kameshwara Rao marked his film debut as a child actor. He played the childhood role of Krishna in this film. Talla Pellamma, Tatamma Kala and Daana Veera Shura Karna in the 1970s are some of his noted performances as a child actor. After a break, he returned through the movie, Sri Ramulayya (1998) where he played a guest role. Seetharama Raju (1999) was his first full-fledged role as an actor.  Laahiri Laahiri Laahirilo (2002) and Seetayya (2003) are his major hits.
