Nalini Biography

Nalini is a former south Indian film actress who has been most active in the era of 1980’s. At present she is active in small screen and also does supporting roles in Tamil movies. She mostly worked in Tamil and Malayalam cinema during 1980’s and has been successfully paired opposite leading actors of the time like Mohanlal, Mammootty, Vijayakanth, Sathyaraj and Mohan. In Tamil, she has been regularly paired with romantic actor Mohan in several movies during 1980’s which turned to be box office hits.

She played the lead role of actress Lekha in the Malayalam movie, Lekhayude Maranam Oru Flashback, which is regarded as one of her best performances. This movie was loosely based on the real life incident of the death of National award winning actress Shobha and her relationship with director Balu Mahendra. She was married to her co-star, actor Ramarajan though the couple has separated now. They got married in the year 1987 and got separated in 2000. The couple had twin children. She received Kalaimamani Award for excellence in acting.   

Nalini belongs to Chennai and she started her film career through Malayalam movies in the early 1980’s. Agnisaram, Kattupothu, Edavela and Kavirathna Kalidasa are her early releases. Nalini has acted in total 128 films till now in all south Indian languages and she was introduced to Tamil film world through the movie, Uyirullavarai Usha in the year 1983. 24 Mani Neram, Alai Osai, Nooravathu Naal and Pillai Nila are her noted Tamil movies. She acted with Sivaji Ganesan in five films including Vamsa Vilakku and Raja Rishi. After her marriage with actor Ramarajan, she took a break from the industry and returned back through small screen. Krishnadasi was her debut television serial and the last one is Madhavi.
