Nachiket Barve Biography

Nachiket Barve is a leading fashion designer from Mumbai. He launched his fashion label at the Gen Next show at the Lakme Fashion Week held at Mumbai. He designs both bespoke fashions and Indianwear for women and his works are exhibited and sold in US, Singapore and Nigeria, apart from India. Barve believes in the principle to challenge pre-existing norms and dress up irrespective of age, body shape pr race. He travels across the world and drew inspirations for his work. He has also designed costumes for TV ads, and has been collaborated with personalities belonging to other sectors of business.

He was born and brought up in Mumbai. He completed his graduation in Commerce. Later he joined National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad to study about apparel design. He received a scholarship from French government to study at E.N.S.A.D, where he studied about costume designing in detail. He also learnt the art of working with feathers, leather, flower making, pleating etc. He launched his label in 007 at Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai. His designs were included in the book, Contemporary Indian Design and got appreciation from many fashion critics.

He was invited to show his designs at BAFWEEK in Argentina and Coterie in New York twice. By that time Barve established himself as a new brand of fashion. Since 2010 he has earned wide recognition in many foreign fashion shows and he showcased his collections at London, New York etc. He designed costumes of Tanishq jewellery during the Diwali festival in 2011 featuring Amitabh Bachchan and his wife Jaya. Wills India Fashion Week for Spring Summer’13 was a grand success of his professional career. His label stands for modern and progressive designs.
