Mukta Barve is a television, theatre and film actress most known for her role in the critically acclaimed Marathi film Jogwa. Abhaḷamaya, Shriyut Gangadhar Tipre, Buwa Ale and Chitta chor are her earliest television works. The drama sitcom "Eka Lagnachi Dusri Goshta” is one of her popular television appearances. Mukta made her film debut as an actress with the 2004 Marathi film Chakwa and later appeared in Marathi movies like Thang, Maati Maay, Saavar Re and Ek Daav Dhobi Pachhad. Kabbadi Kabbadi (2008), Hum to Tere Ashiq Hai (2006), Final Draft (2005), Dehbhaan (2005) and Chappa Kata (2013) are her popular plays. She has won best actress in commercial plays award several times including Theatre Awards, Maharashtra Times Award, Maharashtra state Award as well as many television awards.

Mukta was born on 17 May 1979 in Pune, Maharashtra. She entered the world of drama while at high school; Ghar tighancha hava was her first play. She graduated from Pune University with Theatre as the main subject. Later she joined the Dramatics program at Lalit Kala Kendra, Pune where she worked at various departments of theatre. To fully concentrate on to her acting career, she moved to Mumbai. She started her career as a television actress appearing in many Marathi series.

2009 Marathi movie, Jogwa is one of her memorable film roles till now. She played the role of a jogtin, an innocent girl in this movie. She played supporting role in 2010 romantic film Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai. As an actress, she is most known for her stunning career as a theater artist. She won lead actress award at various award functions for portraying the lead role in the plays - Kabaddi-Kabaddi, Hum to tere Ashiq Hai’ and Final Draft. She won the ‘Best Actress‘ PIFF Award for film ‘Aghat’ in 2011 and MIFTA Award for film ‘Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai’ in 2010.
