Monica Bedi Biography

Monica Bedi is an actress who works in movies as well as television. She has been a successful model too. She has gone through jail sentence and arrests thus ending her successful career. In 2002, she was arrested along with underworld don Abu Salem by the Lisbon police for entering Portugal with forged documents. They were deported to India in 2005 after a lot of legal battles and one year later, an Indian Court convicted Monica Bedi for passport forgery. She is one among those Bollywood beauties whose stories have been preached about their links with underground dons. As a Bollywood actress, she has appeared in lead roles in numerous movies aside big stars of Bollywood during 1990’s.

 
Bedi was born to Dr. Prem Kumar Bedi and Shakuntala Bedi on January 18, 1975 in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Her school and college days were spent at Norway and England respectively. While she was studying English literature at Oxford in 1995, she met actor-director, Manoj Kumar which paved her way to movies. She debut big screen with Main Tera Aashiq released in 1994. She played supporting role in this movie. It was followed by Telugu movie, Taj mahal the following year. Same year, the movie Suraksha was released where she played lead role opposite Saif Ali Khan. However this multistar cast action-comedy was a box office failure.

  
Later she appeared in a series of Hindi and Telugu movies. Yet she couldn’t make it big. Yet her noted roles include Jaanam Samjha Karo and Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat where she played supporting character roles. She played lead role in Tirchhi Topiwale. However her arrest in Portugal put an end to her Bollywood career. She has also appeared in Big Boss season 2 as an inmate and has also participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3. Currently she plays lead role in television soap, Saraswatichandra on Star Plus directed By Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
