Monce Joseph Biography

Advocate Monce Joseph is a noted politician and MLA from Kerala, belonging to Kerala Congress (J) party led by P. J. Joseph. He got elected from Kaduthuruthy legislative Assembly in 2011 state elections. He has served as the Minister for Public Works in V. S. Achuthanandan’s ministry in 2007. He was the youngest minister in Kerala's LDF ministry in India. Most recently in September 2013, he lost his 11 year old son when he got entangled in a dupatta while playing with it.

 

He was born on 30 May 1964 in Kaduthuruthy to O. Joseph and Mariamma Joseph. He has two siblings. Monce holds M. A and L. L. B degrees and is an advocate. He entered politics duiring college days through student union, KSU during his studies at Baselius College, Kottayam. He was elected as Chairman and General Secretary of K.S.C. and has also served many noted positions in the student’s union. During his college days, he organized student groups for different agitations. He is married to a high school teacher, Soniya. The couple had two children. But the couple lost their son in an unfortunate incident last year.

 

Currently he belongs to Kerala Congress (J) party led by P. J. Joseph and serves as an MLA representing Kaduthuruthy legislative Assembly. In the 2011 Kerala assembly elections, he won by a big margin of 23057 votes. In the previous government though he served as the Minister of Public works, he resigned this position for P. J. Joseph, the leader of Kerala Congress, one of the noted political parties of Kerala.
