Monali Thakur Biography 
Monali Thakur is a playback singer and actress, concentrated on Bollywood. She has sung many chartbuster hits of Bollywood like "Zara Zara Touch Me”and "Khwaab Dekhe” of Race, "Sawaar Loon" of Lootera, "Raghupati Raghav" of Krish 3, "Anjaana Anjaani Ki Kahani" of Anjana Anjani, "Jingle Jingle" of Badshah Company, "Meow" of Golmaal Returns, "Tune Maari Entriyaan” of Gunday, "Love Me Thoda" of Yaariyaan, "Kubool Kar Le" of Jaan E Mann, "Khudaya Khair" of Billu and "Tu Mohabbat Hai" of Tera naal pyar ho gaya. She is the winner of 2013 Best female singer at Filmfare. She won her maiden award for the song, "Sawaar Loon" of Lootera.
She started her acting career as a child actress in Bengali television serials and she is to make her Bollywood debut in Nagesh Kukunoor's Lakshmi, where she plays the female lead. The movie has been screened at many international film festivals and has won Best Film - Mercedes Benz Audience Award, for Best Narrative at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Abbas Tyrewala's multistarrer Mango is another upcoming Bollywood movie where she plays female protagonist opposite Rannvijay Singh. Swara Bhaskar and Chandan Roy Sanyal are also included in the crew. She made her acting debut in Raja Sen's Bengali film Krishnakanter Will. She has also appeared in a few tele-films.
Monali Thakur was born in 1985 in a music family of Bengal. Both her father and sister are renowned singers. Monali learnt Hindustani classical music under Pandit Jagdish Prasad and Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty and took lessons of hip-hop, salsa and Bharatanatyam. She shot to fame after her appearance in Indian Idol 2, where she was placed 9th. But she had to struggle a lot to get film offers. In 2008, Pritam offered her two songs for the movie Race which proved to be the breakthrough of her career. "Zara Zara Touch Me" was one of the chartbusters of the year which earned her nominations at IIFA Award and Apsara Award for Best Female Playback Singer.
