Mohan V. Ram Biography

Mohan V. Raman is an Indian film and television actor associated with Tamil industry.  He is also a management trainer. His real name is Pattabhi Venkata Raman. As a television actor he is best known for the character roles he played for the serials, Marmadesam and Chidambara Rahasiyam, both directed by Naga. Noted actress Vidyullekha Raman is his daughter. Mohan was born into a lawyer family, where his father V. P. Raman was a lawyer and politician, while his younger brother P. S. Raman is the Former Advocate-General of Tamil Nadu. His official name is P. V. Raman.

He hails from one of the most respected and reputed families of Chennai. Mohan was born as Pattabhi Venkata Raman on April 3, 1956. He was born as the eldest son to lawyer and politician V. P. Raman. His father also served as the Additional Solicitor General of India in 1975-77. He is married to Padma since 1979 and the couple has two children. His daughter Vidyullekha Raman is a well-known actress while his son is an advocate. Mohan was brought up in Chennai where he completed his education. He completed B.Sc. in Physics from Loyola College, Chennai and later completed Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from XLRI, Jamshedpur.

After his business management studies, he had a short stint in corporate field. Later he set up a light engineering unit with Danish technology to manufacture and supply LPG Valves. He also managed a travel agency for a short period before he entered entertainment field. 1991 film – Idhayam directed by Kathir marked his acting debut. Since then, in a career spanning to 25 years, he has donned various types of character roles including supporting roles and negative ones. He is also a member of the South Indian Artistes Association.
