Miss Pooja is a Punjabi actress and singer. The duet song "Jaan Ton Piyari" in 2006 marked her debut as a singer. In 2009 she released her solo album - "Romantic Jatt". Known for her singing, sweet looks and above all, her attempts to revive the world of Punjabi duets to the masses world-wide have made her a popular person in Punjab. The Queen of duets – she has given her distinct hallmark in Bhangra music scene, singing with more than 70 male artists till now. Bhangra, Pop, Folk, Religious and Hip Hop are her various genres of music. She has also sung for Punjabi movies and acted in 5 movies.
Her real name is Gurinder Kaur Kainth, born in Rajpura, Punjab in 1979. Inderpal Kainth and Saroj Devi are her parents. She has two siblings. She completed post-graduation in Music and worked as a music teacher in Patel Public School in Rajpura, before her foray to music world as a singer. She took Miss Pooja as her stage name. Now she has made her special mark in the Bhangra and Punjabi music industry, specialized in the field of duet singing. Her first duet song "Jaan Ton Piyari" was released in 2006. The song was composed by Lal-Kamal and she sang the duet with Darshan Khlea. The song was well received.
However it was her second duet song, which brought her to limelight. She recorded the hit ‘Pani Hoge Dhunge Johna Launa Chad Dehna’ for the album - Pind Da Shingar with Shinda Shonki. Her third album with Preet Brar, called Ik Tere Karke made her a household name across Punjab. ‘Seeti Marke’ with Geeta Zaildar and ‘Petrol’ with Preet Brar just followed. By the year 2009 she has featured with over 70 distinct male singers in duets, in over 500 songs and in over 100 duet albums. She has also toured many foreign countries like USA, Canada, Australia and the UK. By 2013, she crossed over 3000 songs, released over 300 music albums and 800 music videos too.
