Mehdi Nebbou is a French actor best known for the lead role he played in Bollywood hit movie, English Vinglish released in 2012, which marked the successful comeback of actress Sridevi after 14 years. This French actor portrayed the lead role of a French chef who attends the English speaking class, alongside Sridevi. The movie also portrays the beautiful romantic feelings of this French Chef towards the already married heroine. The movie was directed by Gauri Shinde and Laurent was his screen name.

He was born in Bayonne, France on 10 January 1974 in a Muslim family. His father is an Algerian and his mother is a German. His brother Safy Nebbou is a film director. He is fluent in French, German, English and Italian and has acted in many language films. He is a superstar of French movies who has already acted in 20 successful films in French and English in a film career of 7 years. When he was approached by the director Gauri Shinde, she clearly told him that he has to portray a Frenchman and he agreed. He shared a good chemistry with actress Sridevi onscreen, who portrayed the role of an Indian housewife, Sashi. After the movie’s premiere, the actor was so excited that he has rope in Sridevi for his upcoming debut project as a director. He is also interested in doing a few movies in Hindi.

He started his film career with the movie, My Sweet Home, directed by Filipos Tsitos. Seeds of Doubt in 2004 marked his career beginning as a lead hero. He has been a part of many successful movies including – Munich, Teresas Zimmer, Body of Lies, Come trovare nel modo giusto l'uomo sbagliato and Forces spéciales.
