Meesha Shafi is a Pakistani actress, model and a singer who has most recently debut Bollywood with 2013 hit – Bhaag Mika Bhaag. She played supporting role in this movie. She debut Hollywood in 2013 with Mira Nair’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist, which was a commercial hit. She played supporting role of a Pakistani singer in this movie which received critics’ appreciation.

She played the role of Laxmi, an Indian spy agency Research in the 2013 action thriller Waar which has created new box office records in Pakistani cinema. It was her 2010 song, Alif Allah (Jugni), with Arif Lohar on Coke Studio Pakistan that brought her to limelight. This song holds the record for the most viewed Pakistani song on YouTube ever. She is one of the most popular singer-actors of Pakistan at present and is known for humanitarian work. She is also a successful model who endorses many products.

Her real name is Meera Pervez Shafi and she was born on December 1, 1981 in Lahore, Pakistan. She is the daughter of popular Pakistani actress, Saba Hameed and the step-daughter of actor Waseem Abbas. Her sister Faris Shafi is an actor and a rapper. Her paternal grandfather Inayat Hussain Bhatti was a singer and director. Actor Agha Ali is her cousin. Shafi did her A Levels from Lahore Grammar School and graduated from National College of Arts.

Shafi entered the modelling industry at the age of 17. She starred opposite Jawad Ahmed in the music video for the song "Bin Teray Kya Hai Jeena" which was her first appearance before camera. In 2011, Shafi became the brand ambassador for L’Oreal Paris Pakistan and she is also associated with many leading brands. 2010 televsion serial Muhabbat Khawab Ki Soorat on Hum TV marked her acting debut and Mira Nair's 2013 Hollywood film, The Reluctant Fundamentalist was her film debut.
