Meera Vasudevan Biography

Meera Vasudevan is an Indian actress who works for Hindi and Malayalam movies. She was a popular model during early 2000’s also. Among all her movies, Malayalam movie opposite Mohan Lal – Thanmatra (2006) directed by Blessy is most popular. She has also acted in Telugu and Tamil as well. Among her Bollywood movies, she is most known for Rules: Pyar ka superhit formula, opposite Milind Soman. Among her Tamil movies, Unnai Saranadainthen released in the year 2003 needs special mention. For the character she played named Bobby, she received Tamil Nadu State Film Special Award for Best Actress.

 

Meera was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra in a Tamil family as the eldest daughter to Vasudevan and Hemalatha. Her younger sister Aswin has worked as child artist for Salman Khan and Urmila starrer Jaanam samjha karo, released in the year 1998. Meera completed graduation in Psychology and English literature. Very soon she started doing modeling. ICC setmax campaign gave her direct entry to Bollywood. She got entry to Bollywood with Rules: Pyar ka superhit formula. Though the movie was a flop, she was nominated for best upcoming actress by Screen Awards and Sansui - PNC Awards. Her first Telugu movie, Golmaal was also released in the same year.

 

Meera’s Tamil debut was through Samuthirakani's directorial debut Unnai Saranadainthen, in which she shared screen space with Venkat Prabhu and S. P. B. Charan. Her village girl role was well appreciated and the debut movie gave her Tamil Nadu State Film Special Award for Best Actress award as well. But it was followed by Anjali I Love You in Telugu and Arivumani in Tamil.

 

She stepped into Malayalam with Blessy’s Thanmatra in the year 2006. She played the role of wife of Mohan Lal and mother of teenager. Her sari cladded look with appearance of a mother of a 16 year old boy was entirely different from the glamorous modern girl look of her Bollywood movies and it was so hard to recognize her too. She won Asianet Award for Best Female New Face of the Year award. Next year she tried her luck once again in Bollywood with Jaadu Sa Chal Gayaa, Thodi Life Thoda Magic and Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii.

 

Now she is busy with television serials. She won Kerala State TV Award For Best Actress in 2007 for the serial Kanal poovu. She has also worked for a few movies like Kochi, Decent Parties, 916 and Vairam.
