Mayawati Biography 
Mayawati is an Indian politician and the present Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. She was born on 15th January 1956. Her followers affectionately call her Behen ji. She became the youngest Chief Minister in India when she was elected for the post at her age of 39. Also she is the first Dalit women chief minister. She is a great political inspiration of Dalits.
She was born in New Delhi. Her parents are Ram Rati and Prabhu Das. She has six brothers and two sisters. She got her graduation in arts at Kalindi College, University of Delhi and then got her Bachelor’s degree in Law from Delhi University and Bachelor’s degree in Education from VMLG College, Meerut University and worked as a teacher in Delhi for some time. She was influenced by the Dalit politician Kanshi Ram. She joined his Bhahujan Samaj Party.
In 1989 she was elected for Loksabha from Bijnor for the first time. BSP could only get 11 seats in 1991 election. In 1995 she became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh though this was short lived. She then had coalition with Bharatiya Janata Party and was in the office as Chief Minister from 2002 to 2003. She said that she wanted to remain unmarried and concentrate on the political career for the welfare of the people. She became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the fourth time on 13th May 2007.
Mayawati was accused in many cases. She has to face a number of controversies like Taj corridor case. She celebrated her birthdays with diamonds. She used to launch several welfare measures for the people on her birthdays. The worth of her assets costs more than million dollars. She is one of the top 20 tax payers of the country. This led to the CBI investigations. Many books have been written on the life history of Mayawati. Her autobiography is Mere Sangarshmai jeevan Eam Bahujan Movement Ka Safarnama.
