Mayanti Langer Biography

Mayanti Langer is a TV sports journalist with ESPN. She has hosted the FIFA World Cup 2010 broadcast, 2010 Commonwealth Games and 2011 Cricket World Cup and quite a popular face on Indian television. Her inclination towards football and her good looks played a significant role in placing her as the top sports journalist on Indian television. She is married to cricketer Stuart Binny, son of legendary Indian Cricketer Roger Binny, the highest wicket-taker of historic 1983 Cricket World Cup won by India.

 
She was born to Lt. General Sanjiv Langer and his wife Preminda Langer, an award winning teacher. She completed her graduation from Hindu College, University of Delhi. Her father has worked in UN and it was during her stay in US she got interested in the game of football. She was also a member of college football team during her graduation in Delhi. She became a guest anchor for a broadcast of FIFA beach football, which proved to be the turning point of her career. The broadcast was a success and very soon she got many offers to host games and sports.


She became the host and associate producer for Football Cafe on Zee Sports and stayed in the television industry forever. She is mostly associated with football shows on Indian television and she gives commentaries and often interviews sports personalities.  She was one among the hosts in the 2010 FIFA World Cup broadcast on ESPN and it is one of her major achievements as a star anchor. 2010 Commonwealth Games – Delhi and 2011 Cricket World Cup, apart from a few Cricket series are the major events hosted by her.
