Mawra Hocane Biography

Mawra Hocane is a Pakistani VJ, model and actress who is to make her Bollywood film debut with the upcoming flick - Sanam Teri Kasam. She is to play the female lead opposite Harshvardhan Rane, a Telugu actor who is to make Bollywood debut with this movie. The movie is directed by                Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru and produced by Deepak Mukut. Her elder sister Urwa Hocane is a noted television actress of Pakistan, who recently made film debut through the highly acclaimed romantic comedy Na Maloom Afraad (2014). Urwa is one year older to Mawra. Mawra is also a successful model who has done several ads and did ramp walks for fashion designers.

 

Mawra Hocane, also known by the name Mawra Hussain was born in Karachi, Pakistan on 28 September 1992. She changed her family name "Hussain" to "Hocane" in 7th grade class to give it a unique spelling. She was brought up in Islamabad. She completed pre-medical education from Bahria College and currently pursing LL.B. at the University College of Islamabad. Mawra started her acting career with theater where she has been a stage actress. Later she worked as a VJ at ARY Musik, following her television debut which made her immensely popular. Aahista Aahista, Ik Tamanna Lahasil Si and Nikhar Gaye Gulab Sare are some of her noted television appearances.

 

In 2015 she bagged her first Bollywood film, Sanam Teri Kasam where she is to play the female lead opposite Harshvardhan Rane. The movie is slated to release on February 5, 2016. She has signed two more Bollywood projects. Earlier she was to debut Bollywood with Sanjay Leela Bansali’s Ram Leela, which didn’t happen. Her tweeter comments over the ban of Bollywood film Phantom in Pakistan faced oppositions from social media in Pakistan.
