Marshall Govindan Biography

Marshall Govindan is a Kriya Yogi, scholar and writer. Most of his works are related to classical Yoga and Tantra. He has also authored a few biographies of spiritual gurus of India. ‘Babaji and the 18 Siddha Kriya Yoga tradition’ (1991) is one such noted work which gives a detailed description of childhood and spiritual life of famous spiritual leader - Mahavatar Babaji. This book was a bestseller and has been published in 16 languages till now. He has also initiated over 10,000 persons in Babaji's Kriya Yoga since 1989. He is married to Durga Ahlund.

 

He belongs to USA. He started practising Babaji's Kriya Yoga intensively since 1969. He learnt under Yogi S. A. A. Ramaiah extensively for 5 years. He also learnt books in Tamil written by Tamil Yoga Siddhas. He also contributed in the establishment of 3 yoga centers around the world in a period of around 2 decades. He practised Kriya Yoga for eight hours per day on average and thus attained Self-realization. In 1980, he also assisted in the compilation of works written by Siddhar Boganathar. While at India, he spent a lot of time in Tamil Nadu and also helped in the construction of a rehabilitation hospital dedicated to Yoga therapy and physical therapy.

 

In 1992 he established Babaji's Kriya Yoga Ashram in St. Etienne de Bolton. ‘Kriya Hatha Yoga: 18 Postures’, ‘The Wisdom of Jesus and the Yoga Siddhas’, and ‘Kriya Yoga Insights Along the Path’ are his noted works on Yoga practices. Since 2000, his team of six scholars is doing a Research Project in in the Yoga Siddha at Tamil Nadu.
