Mansoor Khan Biography

Mansoor Khan is a famous film maker who is popular for Aamir Khan movies like Qayamat se qayamat tak, Jo jeeta wohi sikander and Akele hum akele tum. He has played a significant role in placing Aamir as a chocolate hero of Bollywood during 90’s. He has also directed Shah Rukh Khan and Aiswarya Rai in the movie – Josh. He is the only director except Karan Johar in the industry whose all movies were box office success, though Akele hum akele tum didn’t make mark up to expectations. Mansoor Khan is the son of the great director of yesrerdays – Nassir Hussain.  Aamir Khan is his cousin and Imran Khan, his nephew. It’s to be noted that famous Urdu poet and lyricist Majrooh Sulthanpuri has been associated with all his directed movies, except Josh. He has been associated with Nassir Hussain, his family and his production company since 1957.   

It was Mansoor Khan who launched Aamir Khan in Bollywood by giving him the leading role of QSQT. Though it was not Aamir’s first movie, this movie is the first commercial success of this great actor belonging to Mansoor Khan’s family. Qayamat se qayamat tak was the debut movie of Mansoor Khan too, giving new lives to Juhi Chawla, Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan and of course, the music directors Anand Milind. 80’s is regarded as the worst era of Bollywood, both in terms of movies as well as music. Qayamat se qayamat tak released in 1988 gave new promises to Bollywood and a set of new artists too. This movie, along with Aashique are often regarded as the trend settlers of the modern Bollywood.

He repeated his success with another Amir Khan movie. This time, he paired the then top heroine – Aisha Julka. Again, this movie was targeted at schools and campus and was a big hit too. Songs also played a significant role in its success. It was for the first time a song sequence fully pictured in slow motion – Pehla Nasha is still the hot favourite of teens and youth, though it has been released 20 years ago.  The third movie – Akele hum akele tum (1995) was again Aamir movie and it too, targeted the youth. Songs became huge hits at campuses. Though Manisha Koirala is remembered for its best performance, movie was moderate success only. But his fourth movie ’Josh’ released in the year 2000 was critically well acclaimed and remembered most for its songs like Mere khayalom ki mallika and Hai mera dil. This movie was noticed for its strange casting too. It was for the first time Shah Rukh Khan and Aiswarya rai worked together. They were casted as twin siblings.
