Manoj Tiwary Biography

Manoj Tiwary is an Indian cricketer who is a right handed batsman and right arm leg break spinner. He is famous among his fans for his stroke play.

 

He was born on 14th November 1985 in Howrah in West Bengal. His full name is Manoj Kumar Tiwary. His father’s name is Shyam Shankar Tiwary and his mother’s name is Bina Tiwary. He has one elder brother named Raj Kumar Tiwary. His father is an employee at Indian Railways.

 

He served as the captain of the India Under 19 team which toured to England and served as the vice captain in the test series. He played domestic cricket representing Bengal team and in just 14 games he scored 1000 runs that gained the attention of the national selectors.

 

He was initially selected in the ODI team to Bangladesh but could not make it up due to his injury and he played his ODI debut match on 3rd February 2008 against Australia. He made his T20 debut on 29th October 2011 against England. In the match against West Indies on 11th December 2011, he scored his maiden ODI century with 104 not out and had cramps and had to retire soon after his century. He got Man of the Match award in that match. Then he made a comeback after 14 matches.

 

He was selected for Asia Cup 2012 though he did not play any match and again he was selected for the Ione T20 match against South Africa which is to celebrate the settlement of Indians in South Africa. He played for Delhi Daredevils in 2008 and 2009 IPL seasons and then in 2010 Kolkata Knight Riders signed him and he played for that team in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons.
