Manoj Kumar Biography
Manoj Kumar is an Indian sportsman who specializes in the game of boxing. This boxer has won gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the light welterweight division and was shot to fame.
Manoj Kumar was born on 10th December 1986 in Rajound in Kaithal district of Haryana and is supported by Olympic Gold Quest. His full name is Manoj Kumar Kaltagdia. His father’s name is Sher Singh Kaltagdia and his mother’s name is Kamla Kaltagdia. His father is a retired army man and his mother is a housewife.
He completed his schooling at his village and was initially coached by his elder brother Rajesh Kumar who serves as the coach of the junior national boxing team. His younger brother Mukesh Kumar is also a boxer who competes in the international matches. He has one sister named Poonam Kaltagdia.
He lost in the first round of the World Championship in 2009 and could secure a bronze medal at the 2007 Asian Boxing Championship and 2009 Czech Grand Prix. He won gold medal in 10th YMCA International Boxing Tournament in 2007 and 2004 and silver medal in 2003.
In the 2012 London Olympics, he advanced to pre-quarterfinals and had to lose in that match due to some dubious judging calls that came under heavy criticism of the neutral observers all over the world. He openly cried ‘cheating’ when he was announced of his defeat and had to leave the arena.
