Manoj Joshi (journalist) Biography

Manoj Joshi is a famous journalist and an author of several books. He is a Distinguished Fellow at the Observer Research Foundation, New Delhi. Lost Rebellion, Kashmir in the Nineties (1999) and Kashmir 1947–1965: A Story Retold (2008) are his published books. A senior journalist, he is a former member of the National Security Advisory Board. As a journalist, he specialized on national and international politics and is a commentator and columnist on these issues. He did coverage on issues of Siachen, Pakistan, China, Sri Lanka and terrorism in Kashmir and Punjab as an eminent journalist. He was earlier Comment Editor with the Mail Today newspaper.

 

Manoj Joshi, an eminent name of media, he has decorated several leading positions. He has been a member of the Task Force on National Security chaired by Mr Naresh Chandra. Its aim was to propose reforms in the security apparatus of the nation. He has also worked as the political editor of The Times of India, India Today, The Hindu and was the Washington Correspondent of Financial Express. Apart from journalist publications, he has written in several academic publications also.

 

Manoj Joshi schooled at St. Joseph's College in Nainital, followed by under graduation at St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He took graduation in History at Lucknow University and earned his MPhil and PhD from the School of International Studies, JNU. Started his career as a journalist, he has worked with The Times of India, India Today, The Hindu and many leading journals. He served as the member of India's National Security Council's Advisory Board for two years since 2004 and a member of Cabinet Committee on Security in 2011, appointed by Government of India.
