Manoj Joshi Biography

Manoj Joshi is a popular character artist of Bollywood screen. He is also a part of Marathi and Gujarati entertainment industry. He appears in movies, television soaps and comedy shows, apart from stage plays. He has gained attention as a comedy actor onscreen and is associated with the entertainment industry since late 1990s. He regularly appeared in the comic movies of Bollywood director, Priyadarshan and success of those roles have made him an established entertainer of the industry.  Hungama, Hulchul, Bhagam Bhag, Chup Chup Ke, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Billo Barber are among those Priyadarshan movies. He also played noted roles in Dhoom and Phir Hera Pheri.

He is born in Himmatnagar of Sabarkantha, Gujarat. His father was Navneet Joshi. His younger brother Rajesh Joshi was a popular actor on big screen known for character roles. His brother passed away in 1998. His first Bollywood movie Sarfarosh, which starred Aamir Khan and Twinkle Khanna was released the following year and both the brothers portrayed memorable character roles. He played the role of SI Bajju in the commercial hit and his brief appearance got noticed. Then he went on to appear in numerous movies and television series. It was director Priyardarshan who gave him the big break to Bollywood. After the cult classic Hera Pheri in 2000, he regularly appeared in all Priyadarshan movies. Manoj Joshi was a regular actor in Marathi and Gujarati theatre too.

He worked in many television serials including Chanakya and Ek Mahal Ho Sapnon Ka. He played the role of Peshwa Baji Rao I in the Marathi television serial Rau, aired on DD sahyadri. Currently he portrays the role of Chanakya in Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, and Ramakant Gokhale in Honar Sun Me Hya Gharchi. Khichdi is one of his popular roles on small screen. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon are his latest Bollywood releases.
