Manohar Lal Khattar Biography

Manohar Lal Khattr the present Chief Minister of Haryana State. He is a member of Bharatiya Janata Party and was born in 1954 in Nindana village of Meham  in Chobisi  tehsil  of the Rohtak district of Haryana. His father Mr. Harbans Lal Khattar was a shopkeeper who came to Haryana from Pakistan after the Partition of India in 1947. Khattar family settled in the Banyani village of Rohtak district (Punjab) which is now in Haryana and engaged themselves in farming. 

Manohar Lal Khattar completed his high school from Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Government College, Rohtak. He then moved to Delhi, and ran a shop near Sadar Bazar while completing his Bachelor's degree from Delhi University. Khattar is unmarried and lives a simple life.

Manohar Lal Khattar joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1977, as pracharak (a post in RSS) three years later.  He worked in that capicity for 14 years and then he was sent to in to work for BJP, in 1994. During 2000-2014, Khattar was Organizational General Secretary of the BJP in Haryana. Khattar was appointed as Chairman of BJP's Haryana Election Campaign Committee for 2014 Lok Sabha Elections.

In 2014, Manohar Lal contested the Haryana State election from Karnal constituency on BJP.s ticket which he won by a big margin and the BJP gained a clear majority in the state for the first time. Manohar Lal won the mandate of his party MLAs during a party meeting and his name was proposed for the Chief Minister of Haryana post seconded by Abhimanyu Sindhu and supported by many MLAs. Khatta took over as BJP's first Chief Minister of Haryana state on 26 October 2014.

Manohar Lal is keenly undertaking new experiments in Haryana by introducing Yoga practice in police department, operation clean in all government department and introduced e-services and biometric attendance system in all the government offices.
