Manmohan Waris Biography

Manmohan Waris is a Punjabi pop singer from Halluwal in the district of Hoshiarpur. He is the elder brother of Sangtar and Kamal Heer, both are Punjabi artists. He is also known as ‘The King Of Bhangra’. Gajray Gori De, Gaairan Naal Penghan Jhotdiye, Sohniya De Laare, Mitran Ne Bhangra Pauna, Husn Da Jadu, Gali Gali Vich Hookay, Dil Vatte Dil, Dil Te Na Laeen, Castle Bromwich, Mitran Da Sah Rukhda, Nachiye Majajne, Dil Nachda, Hasdi De Phul Kirde and Sajjre Challe Muklave are his private albums of which many of the songs have been featured as music videos. He has also done several devotional and compilation albums.

 

His real name is Manmohan Singh Heer. He was born on 3 August 1967 in Halluwal, Punjab. He started formal training in music from Ustaad Jaswant Bhanwra at a younger age. He along with his family moved to Canada in the year 1990 and his first album was released in the year 1993 at Canada. His debut album, Gaairan Naal Penghan Jhotdiye featuring songs like Sohniya De Laare, Hasdi De Phul Kirde, Sajjre Challe Muklave and Gali Gali Vich Hokay was a huge hit. In 1998, his song Kite Kalli Beh Ke Sochi was a chartbuster and placed his name among the top Punjabi singers all time. This particular song is regarded as one among the best Punjabi album songs ever.

 

Following the success, Tips audios signed a contract with him and Husn Da Jadu, released in 2000 was the first album in this label. It was followed by Gajray Gori De and Dil Vatte Dil, released by Tips. In 2004, with the success of "Nachiye Majajne", he toured worldwide and now also conducts live shows abroad titled, Punjabi Vista every year.
