Manish Maithani Biography

Manish Maithani is an Indian footballer who serves as the Midfielder for his team. He is associated with FC Pune City. He moved on loan to Portuguese side Vitoria de Guimares B team after the completion of ISL 2014. Israil Gurung was the other player who was signed as a part of the agreement. He earned a senior cap in a friendly against Azerbaijan in 2012. He was one of the team members of under-23 2009 SAFF Championship and 2010 Asian Games.

 

Manish Maithani was born in Dehradun in the year 1989. He played two seasons with Indian National FC. Then he was signed by Mohun Bagan A.C. in 2009. Maithani signed with IMG-Reliance to join their Indian Super League in 2013. But due to objection from the I-League clubs, he could not play with any clubs for a long time. Maithani made his debut for Mohammedan in the I-League on 24 October 2013, where he played against United S.C. at the Salt Lake Stadium. He played as a substitute for the team, marking his debut. It was Bernard Oparanozie who recommended him to Mohun Bagan.

 

In 2014 Indian Super League he played with FC Pune City. Played as Midfielder for Pune team, he got opportunity to play 8 games. Manish made his senior international debut against Azerbaijan in 2012, where he played for Indian team for the first time. In 2015 Pune City's Gurung and Maithani were signed on loan by Portuguese top flight team till the end of that season, as agreed by both teams. Thus he along with Gurung from Kalimpong in West Bengal became the first players from ISL to join a prestigious football club in Europe.
