Manav Kaul Biography

Manav Kaul is a noted actor and theater personality. He is a playwright, play director, stage actor and film director, apart from a Bollywood actor. He played noted roles in Bollywood films - Jai Gangaajal, Wazir and City Lights in the recent times. In 2012 he made his film directorial debut through Hansa starring Kumud Mishra and Abhay Joshi. The film opened to positive reviews and was premiered at 2012 OSIAN CINEFAN's International Film Festival. The movie also received Best Film Audience Vote and Best Film Critics Award at the film festival.

He was born in Baramulla, Kashmir in the year 1976. While studying in class 4, his family moved to Bhopal. He later lived in Hoshangabad, Madhya Pradesh. In 2004 he started a theater group – Aranya, where he worked as a playwright, play director and actor. Ilhaam, Park and Shakkar ke Paanch Daane are some of his early plays under this troupe. He made his film debut as a director in the year 2012 with the award winning film, Hansa. Had deep roots in theater, he made some sensible acting through the supporting roles he played on big screen. He made his Bollywood debut in the year 2003.

He made an impressive performance in a negative role in Kai Po Che. It was followed by a complex character in City Lights, which was highly lauded. Since then he is a familiar face of Bollywood. He played a cold-blooded Kashmiri politician in the recent release Wazir, which earned him a loud noise of applause. Jai Gangaajal – is his recent release. In most films, he won’t appear for film promotions and thus become the surprise pack once the movie got released. But with his recent release, Jai Gangaajal, he has done a little bit of promotions.
