Mamukkoya Biography

Mamukkoya is a popular actor of Malayalam equally verse in comedy roles as well as character roles. He has been a part of the industry since 1980’s and has acted in more than 450 films till now. He is known for unique usage of Mappila dialect (Muslim style dialogue delivery) and style marks his presence in the industry. He is the first winner of State award for Best Comedian in Malayalam cinema. Comedian award was added in the year 2008 in Kerala state awards and he was the first actor to won it. The movie was Innathe chintavishayam, where Mohanlal and Meera Jasmine played the leading roles. He has also won special jury award in 2004 for his performance in Perumazhakalam. He has also won Jaihind television awards for Best Comedy Artist — Innathe Chintha Vishayam.

Mamukkoya started his career as a theatre artist. By chance, he got a role in 1979 movie - Anyarude Bhoomi followed by Sibi Malayil’s Doore Doore Oru Kodu Koottam and Sathyan Anthikkad’s Gandhinagar second street. His first big break was through the movie – Naadodikaattu of 1987, cult comedy movie of Malayalam cinema. He was also seen in the picturation of super hit song – Kara kaana kadalala mele. Thus he became a part of Malayalam film industry. Through his unique style, he has given life to numerous movies in the past 25 years or so.

He has acted as the leading hero in the role of Veerappan in the movie, Korappan the great, released in the year 2001.  As an actor, a few of his memorable roles are Vargam, Dhwani, August 1, Pasupathy, Alancherry Thambrakkal, Cabinet, No.1 Snehatheeram Bangalore north, Unnikale Oru Kadh Parayam, Sreedharante Onnam Thirumurivu, Bamboo boys, Sanmanasullavarkku samadhanam, Kingini, Ellarum Chollanu , My dear Muthachan, Bhagya devetha, Katha thudarunnu, Arabeem Ottakom P. Madhavan Nayarum in Oru Marubhoomikkadha, Vellaripravinte changathi, Sheha veedu, Kadha Parayumbol, Kaiyoppu, Pakshe, Vadhu Doctoranu, Ramji Rao Speaking, Kalikkalam, Indian rupee, Bavuttiyude namathil, Mayavi, Kaiyoppu, Pradeshika Varthakal, Mazhavil kavadi, Peruvananpurathe visheshangal, Ardham and Vachanam.
