Mamta Kulkarni Biography

Mamta Kulkarni was one among the leading actresses of middle 90’s who was known most for controversies than acting talent. From the early days of her ‘topless photo shoot’ for Stardust Magazine cover page in 1993, she has been always in news and was given the title ‘Bollywood siren’. She has been linked with many personalities of B’town including Film directors that time. Her successful movies include Aashiq Awara opposite Saif Ali Khan (his debut movie), Baazi opposite Aamir Khan, Sabse bada khiladi opposite Akshay Kumar, Karan Arjun opposite Salman Khan and Waqt hamara hai opposite Suniel Shetty. She has also been associated with successful movies like Qila, Ghatak, Bequaabu and Krantiveer. She has done a few non-Hindi movies as well.

She debut Bollywood through multistar cast patriotic movie, ‘Tiranga’ where Nana Patekar played the leading role. She has also worked in similar patriotic movies of Nana Patekar including Krantiveer. Despite having a charming face and a handful of smash hits during middle 90’s, she didn’t try to make use of the situations. Instead she fell into controversial news one after another, thus losing her chances one by one. In addition to it, she even rejected many good roles of 1990’s as she didn’t find enough substance in those movies to act. Sapoot, Bandan, Kareeb, Dulhe raja, Aunty No.1, Hogi pyar ki geet and Dulhe raja are among those movies which she rejected, later went to other leading ladies of B’town including Raveena Tandon and Karishma Kapoor. Heroes of those rejected movies include Salman Khan, Govinda, Ajay Devgan and Bobby Deol who were quite popular that time.

Among all heroes she was most successfully paired with Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. Though not paired opposite, she has worked with Shah Rukh Khan in the movie ‘Karun Arjun’, thus completing the ‘Khan club’. The dance song pictured on her along with Khans in the movie ‘Karan Arjun’ was a huge success that time. She was known for her beauty and fine looks too.

Though she did the leading actress’ role in China Gate, the hit item song ‘Chamma Chamma’ went to Urmila which increased her blood pressure. Her outburst against director Rajkumar Santhoshi resulted in the spoil of her career only. Slowly her career degraded and ended with Chupa Rustham in 2001. Now also she is in controversies, since she married Vicky Goswami in May 2013. He was an international drug smuggler who has been caught and convicted in 1997. According to reports the newly-wedded couple is now at Kenya looking after his business.
