Mallika Biography

Mallika is a National award winning south Indian actress, who appears in Tamil and Malayalam movies, mostly in supporting roles. This talented cine artist has won numerous awards for her acting talents, both in Malayalam and Tamil. In 2011, she won National award (Special Jury mention) for the first ever movie made in Beary language titled, Byari. She played the lead role of Nadira in this movie. National award winning movie, Ozhimuri gave her a nomination for best supporting actress at SIIMA Awards. For 2013 Malayalam movie, Kathaveedu she won Kerala Film Critics Association Awards for Second Best Actress.

She made big screen debut in 2002 Malayalam movie, Mizhalkoothu directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan. Tamil movie, Autograph directed by Cheran was the big break to her acting career. She played the role of Cheran’s first love – school classmate named Kamala in this movie for which she earned Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress – Tamil in 2004. She appeared in the Telugu version of the same movie, Naa Autograph released the same year as well.

Mallika was born as Reeja Johnson in Thrissur, Kerala. Malayalam film Nizhalkuthu (2002) marked the beginning of her film journey. She appeared in a small role in the movie. However she got her major break through Tamil movie, Autograph in which she played one of the lovers’ role of Cheran. After that she became equally active in Malayalam and Tamil movies and also appeared in a tele-serial called Anjali.

As an actress, her best known performance is for the first movie ever made in Beary language, Byari, which earned her National award (Special Jury Mention). Priyappetta Nattukare, Puthiya Theerangal, Mr.Marumakan, Indian rupee, Sneha veedu and No. 66 Madhura Bus are other noted Malayalam movies. Most recently she appeared in Tamil movie, Chennaiyil Oru Naal where she portrayed the role of Satyamoorthi's wife.
