Maheswari Biography

Maheswari is a south Indian film and television actress. Associated with cinema since 1990s, she has moved to television right now.Ullasam and Karuththamma are her noted Tamil films, while Gulabiand Nee Kosam are her popular roles in Telugu cinema. Currently she has taken retirement from films and is concentrating in television career. She played the parallel lead Rosy, a doctor in the Tamil movie, Karuthamma, which gave her a major break to acting. The movie directed by Bharathiraja was highly praised by critics for its socially relevant subject of female infanticideand A. R. Rahman’s music was also well appreciated. Though Rajashreeformed the central character of the film, Maheswari was also noticed for her role as an educated lady.

She is the cousin of noted actress Sridevi. She married Jayakrishna, a software professional from Hyderabad in 2008. She got a grand opening to Tamil films in the first half of 1990s. She made her film debut with the Tamil film, Karuthamma in 1994. Same year she also made her Bollywood debut through the super hit film – Krantiveer. The following year she made her debut to Kannada and Telugu films. She has been quite active in Telugu movies, comparing other language films. Nee Kosam in 1997 was one of her major roles she played on Telugu screen and won Nandi award for best actress too.

In 1997, she played lead role opposite Ajith Kumar andVikram in the Tamil film – Ullaasamand the movie was a box office hit. The movie was a love triangle. Panchalankurichi, NaamIruvarNammakuIruvar, Rathna, En Uyir Nee Thaane, Suyamvaram etc are some of her Tamil films in the 1990s. She has been paired with almost all leading actors of 1990s. After the year 2000, she took retirement from films and currently associated with television shows.
