Madhan Bob Biography

Madhan Bob is a popular comedian of Tamil cinema. His real name is S. Krishnamoorthy and he belongs to capital city, Chennai. He started his film journey as a musician, but later got success as a comedian. His debut film was Vaaname Ellai. Thenali, Arai En 305-il Kadavul and Parthale Paravasam are his noted film roles as a comedian. Currently he appears in the Sun TV comedy show ‘Asathapovathu Yaaru’ as one of the judges. Apart from comic roles, he has also done many supporting roles. He is credited to teaching A. R. Rahman, music first. Now also he works as a musician and owns a music troupe. He has completed 3 decades in film industry and currently works as an actor, musician as well as reality show judge. He prefers himself to be called as a humourist than a comedian.

He was the eighth child of his family, born as Krishnamoorthy. His uncle’s name was also the same and to avoid confusions, his name was later changed to Madan. Along with his brother Padmanabhan who was also called Babu, he started a music troupe and named it as ‘Madan and Babu’. In time, the Babu became Bob and Balachander introduced him to film world. He is married to Susheela and the couple has one daughter and one son – Janani and Archith. Both the siblings are musicians.

A few of his noted movies are Nee Varuvai Ena, Parthale Paravasam, Edhirum Pudhirum, Unakkaga Ellam Unakkaga, Unnai Thedi, Alli Thandha Vaanam, Thulladha Manamum Thullum, Nala Damayanthi, Priyamana Thozhi, Ayya, Kaavalan, Gemini, Mapillai, Villain, Youth, Hey! Nee Romba Azhaga Irukke, Poovellam Kettuppar, Friends, Kannukkul Nilavu and Thenali. During the shooting of Mappillai in 2011, he met with an accident. But he survived.
