M.g.sreekumar Biography 
M G Sreekumar is the most sought male playback singer of Malayalam after K.J.Yesudas. He is the younger brother of noted music composer M.G.Radhakrishnan and singer K.Omanakutty. M G Sreekumar has been one among the most popular male play back singers since early 90’s and now he is a music director as well, who has composed memorable songs for Thandavam, National award winning movie Kanchivaram (Tamil), Alexander the great and Arabiyum ottakavum pinne Madhavan Nayarum. This great singer debut with Poochakkaru Manikettum of 1984 and has rendered his voice to more than 3000 songs, most of them for leading actors and famous music directors.
When K.J.Yesudas sung maximum songs for mega star Mamootty, M G Sreekumar’s voice matched well with Mohan lal. Most popular of M G Sreekumar-Mohan lal pair include songs of Chitram, Indrajaalam, Vietnam Colony, Pingami, Kaalapani, Pavithram, Vandanam, Talavattam, His highness Abdulla, Appu, Kilukkam, Abhimanyu, Ulladakkam, Advaidam, Yoddha, Nrnayam, Chandralekha and Kireedam of late 80’s and early 90’s. It can be said that almost all hit movies of the successful career of Mohanlal during late 80’s and 90’s include M G Sreekumar as an episode. This combination has won many awards as well. Kannerpuvinte of Kireedam won first state award for M.G.Srikumar while Nagaroopini of His Highness Abdulla earned him National award too. He has rarely sung for Mammooty. It may be because as Mammooty was elder than Mohanlal, K.J.Yesudas was used most.
In 1999, M.G.Sreekumar won his second National award for ‘Chaanthu pottum Chankelassum’ of Vasanthiyum Lekshmiyum Pinne Jnanum, starring Kalabhavan Mani, the first movie of comic actor Mani as the leading actor. As a singer, M G Sreekumar has won State awards thrice. After Kireedam in 1989, he won it again in 1991 for Priyadarshan movie Killukkam and in the following year for various movies. He has won Soorya awards and Asianet awards several times since 2005. His song of Thanmatra for Mohanlal is simply one among the best.
Apart from Mohan lal, he has sung for all young heroes from late 80’s; Kunchakko Boban, Mukesh, Sidiqque, Sai Kumar, Shankar, Srinivasan, Suresh Gopi and many more. His most famous songs, apart from National awards and State Awards are Ente Thenkasi of Thenkasi Pattanam, Thamarapoovil of Chandralekha, Chandralekha ente of Ammayane Sathyam, Aattirambile of Kaalapani, Ambalapuzhe of Adwaidam, Chethikavil pooram of Black, Oru rajamalli of Aniyathipravu, all songs of Chitram, title song of Saat rang ke sapne, Jiya jale of Dil se and many more.
