M. Rajesh Biography

M. Rajesh is a successful film director associated with Tamil entertainment industry. This young director is best known for the movies, Boss Engira Bhaskaran (2010) and Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (2012). His debut film, Siva Manasula Sakthi released in 2009 was also successful. After the success of his first three films in a row, he tasted failure with his next releases. He repeats his crew for his movies, and actor Santanam is a permanent fixture for all his films. Same is the case of composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and lyricist Na. Muthukumar.

Rajesh hails from Nagercoil of Kanya Kumari district, Tamil Nadu. He was born in the year 1985. He completed his engineering in IT at National Engineering College, and worked for 6 months as an IT professional before he called off ‘quit’. He decided to pursue a career in films. He assisted Ameer in Mounam Pesiyathey and also assisted S.A. Chandrashekhar for Muthamidalama. At that time he met Shakti, they fell in love and got married.

As a film director he made his debut with Siva Manasula Sakthi in 2009 which opened to critical acclaim and was commercially successful. The movie starred Jeeva and Anuya in lead roles. He completed a hat-trick with the success of his next two ventures - Boss Engira Bhaskaran (2010) and Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (2012). Till now he has directed 7 movies, and wrote the screenplay of all these works except Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, for which he wrote dialogues only.

After the flops, All in All Azhagu Raja and Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga, he directed the film Kadavul Irukaan Kumaru in 2016, which opened to mixed reviews. He has experimented with different themes for his projects, and is known for one-liners. The catchphrase "Nanbaen, da!" from Boss Engira Bhaskaran is the best example. Lead actors of his films often appear in guest roles in his next releases.
