M. Ghibran Biography

M. Ghibran is a popular composer and music director associated with Tamil cinema and jingles. He is known for giving breaks to many budding talents in the music field, the recent one being - Sundar Narayana Rao. He composed for over 800 television commercial jingles before beginning his music career in Kollywood. He holds many degrees in the field of music including Grade 8 in both Piano and Music theory through Trinity College London. His works are located in the cities - Chennai, Mumbai and Singapore and he currently owns his own studio at Chennai.

 
Ghibran was born and raised in Coimbatore, the second biggest city of Tamil Nadu. He was born on 12 August 1980. While studying at class 10, his family witnessed a huge business loss and he had to discontinue his studies. The family got shifted to Chennai where he did odd jobs to financially support his family. Once he happened to watch on TV, the performance of Yanni in front of Taj Mahal and that’s how he got connected to music and decided to build a career on it.


Though he joined a music school, he discontinued studies and later concentrated on to key board only where he did a part time course. When he completed his eighth grade in keyboard, he started gaining opportunities, particularly in the field of animation. After two years working so, he set up his own studio in 2000. Later for a short time, he worked part-time in Singapore as well. Vaagai Sooda Vaa was his first break to Tamil film industry. Later he composed songs for Vatthikuchi, Kutti Puli and Naiyaandi and has most recently bagged the Tamil remake of Dhrishyam (Malayalam movie).
