Luv Ranjan Biography

Luv Ranjan is a budding director of Bollywood best known for directing Pyar ka Panchanama and its sequel released in 2015. Made on moderate budgets, both the movies have turned to be sleeper hits and fared well at box office. They have also received good response from critics, though criticized for plotting women in a wrong manner. After the release of Pyar ka Panchanama, the director is often known as a misogynist (the hatred or dislike of women or girls). Aakashvani was another release and the movie too received good response from critics. Kartik Aaryan and Nusrat Bharucha acted in all his three releases till now. In fact both the actors have been paired together in all his three movies.

This director is known for casting a bunch of newcomers for his movies and till now has managed to deliver hits. His movies are made on low budget, youth oriented and give preference to romantic flavours, though his ‘Punchanama’ series gave a wrong message about woman’s fidelity in relationships. Since the surprise hit of his debut flick Pyar ka Panchanama, a fresh topic which has rarely explored on silver screen, he announced its sequel and story line of its sequel too falls into the same line – Three Couples and Three Love stories which end in breakup. While all the three ladies of Pyar ka Panchanama were casted for its sequel, two of male stars except Kartik Aaryan were replaced.

Luv Ranjan aspires to make solely youth-centric films. “Pyaar Ka Punchnama” was hailed as a cult film about modern relationships as seen through the male perspective. But some critics have called him a misogynist following the release of the film. Though his second film Aakashvaani didn’t fare well at box office, it received good response from critics. Luv Ranjan is an alumnus of the Asian Academy Of Film & TV. Then he started off as an assistant director with Suneel Darshan in three films — ‘Barsaat', ‘Mere Jeevan Saathi' and ‘Dosti'.
