Lakshmikant Berde Biography
Lakshmikant Berde is known as a comedian of Bollywood and Marathi movies who died at comparatively younger age. Though he has worked in a few Hindi movies like Hum aapke hain kaun and Meine Pyar kiya of Rajashree productions, he did significant roles in Marathi movies as a comedian. When he died in December 16 2004 at the age of 50, he was suffering from kidney problems. He was a good Ventriloquist and Guitar player. He has started a new production company in the name of his son and its name is Abhinay Arts. “Shantecha Karta Chalu Aahe” is his most popular Marathi play where he played the lead role.
From childhood days itself, Lakshmikant Berde was interested in acting and for that reason, he used to participate in stage shows and Ganesha festival celebrations. He has won many awards during inter-school, inter-college competitions thus proving himself to be a talented actor. He started acting with Marathi Drama troop - Mumbai Marathi Sahitya Sangh and used to do bit roles. His first major role as a comic character in the play ‘Tour Tour’ was well appreciated. He debuted acting career with ‘Lek Chalali Sasarla’. As he loved drama a lot, he didn’t quit stage shows and began to accept both roles – as a stage actor and a film actor. He acted in a Doordarshan Marathi tele serial also. Its name was Gajra.
Then his string of Marathi movies - Eka Peksha Ek, Aamhi Doghe Raja Rani, Ashi Hi Banwa Banvi, Balache Baap Brahmachari, Thartharat, Bhootacha Bhau and Hamaal De Dhamaal placed him as an established actor of Marathi movies. He was paired with Priya Arun most and their pair was popular that time. He had prefect team pair with any one of these artists in the movies – Sachin, Ashok Saraf or Mahesh Kothare. The decade of 1986-1996 remembered as "Ashok-Laxya" era was deep rooted in their friendship too. Ashok Saraf and Lakshmikanth Berde remained thick friends till Berde passed away in 2004.
Lakshmikant Berde debuted Bollywood with Sooraj Barjatya’s Meine pyar kiya in the year 1989. Other hit movies include Beta, Saajan, Aarzoo, Taqdeerwala, Hamesha, Hum aapke hain kaun and 100 days.
