Lakshmi Devy Biography

Lakshmi Devy is a south Indian film actress and writer associated with Tamil cinema. She is best known for 2015 release – Masala Padam, where she was one among the actors as well as screenwriters. She played the female lead and the movie also included the star cast of Shiva, Bobby Simha and Gaurav. The movie directed by noted cinematographer Laxman Kumar of Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu fame, later became one of the biggest entertainers of the year. Lakshmi believes acting is her passion and writing is her interest. It was the maiden venture of both Lakshmi and Laxman, who are good friends.

The film’s cinematographer Laxman Kumar and producer, Vijay and Lakshmi Devy have been good friends for quite a long time. Then they together decided to do a movie together. Laxman has earlier done the popular movie, Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu. Lakshmi is interested in writing poetry since younger days and has dabbled in short story writing. In fact her father is a writer who writes travelogues. Lakshmi has been dreaming to publish a book and the movie came that way. She co-scripted the movie aside its director Laxman Kumar and it marked the directorial debut of Laxman. The movie revolves around how people judge movies with entertaining elements of romance and songs. Lakshmi carried away with her ‘dual role’ for the movie as a writer cum actor and it met with audience’s expectations as well.

Currently she is writing script of a horror movie. The actress loves to assist Mani Ratnam, Balki or Alphonse Putharen and learn the nuances of filmmaking and she dreams to become a film director in the distant future, may be after a decade. Her main hobbies are swimming and scuba diving and loves modelling also.
