L. R. Eswari Biography 
L. R. Eswari is a Veteran playback singer of Tamil and Telugu movies. She has also sung a few movies for Kannada and Malayalam movies. She was awarded with Kalaimamani by Tamil Nadu's state award for her contributions to the film industry. She has worked with leading music directors of the industry like M.S.Viswanathan, Ilaiyaraaja, T.K.Ramamoorthy, K. V. Mahadevan and Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan. Her Hindu devotional albums in praise of the Goddess Amman are hugely popular in Tamil Nadu and played in Temples. Yet she was born as a Christian in a Roman Catholic family to Anthony Devraj and Regina Mary Nirmala. Her full name is Lourde-Mary Rajeshwari.
She was born in Chennai on 7 December 1939. She didn’t have any formal training in singing. Her mother was a chorus singer in films and young Eswari used to assist her. She too, started her career as a chorus singer. But she very soon got opportunities to sing for movies as playback singer. Her first break came from Sri K.V.Mahadevan for the movie 'Nalla Idaththu Sammandham’ (1958) where she sang the song 'Ivarey thaan avarey'. However 'Vaarai en thozhi vaaraayo' from the movie 'paasa malar' (1961) was her big break to singing field. After that she was active in playback singing for more than two decades or so.
A few of her noted Tamil hits are Muthukulikka Vareegala of Aadavaralaam, Aval Oru Kathanayagi of Moondru Mudichu, Aada Varalaam of Karuppu Panam, Anubavi Raja Anubavi, Adi Ennadi Ulagam of Aval Oru Thodar Kathai, Enthan Nenjam Yaarai of Kathalithal Pothuma, Malarendra Mugam Indru of Kaadhalikka Neramillai, Enna Solla Enna Solla of Babu and Puthi Sigamani of Iruvar Ullam. A few of her Telugu hits include - Mogali Rekula Sigadaana of Pandava Vanavasam, Nookalammani Nene Nee Peekani Nokkettane of Tata Manavadu, Welcome Swagatam Chesta Ninne Paravasam of Nippulanti Manishi and Bhale Bhale Magadivoi Bangaru of Maro Charithra.
