L. Ganesan Biography

L. Ganesan is an active politician, a senior leader of DMK and a former member of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), a political party of Tamil Nadu. Currently he is a member of 14th Lok Sabha representing Tiruchirappalli constituency of Tamil Nadu. This political leader is a prominent figure in Orathanadu Taluk and Thanjavur District political circle and is known for his rebellion against Vaiko, the founder of his own party. In 2008, he along with the party’s founding member Gingee N. Ramachandran were expelled from the primary membership of the party as they voted in favour of the confidence motion in the Lok Sabha. Earlier in 2006, Vaiko has relieved both these members from all posts and responsibilities for indulging in "anti-party activities". Initially he was in DMK since from law student life. After Jaylalitha's Chief Ministership, in difference with Kalaignar and DMK Dominants he caught Vaiko along with Gengee Ramachandran, N. Kannappan, Nanjil Sampath broke out from DMK and formed MDMK.

He was born in 24 April 1934 in Kannadangudi of Thanjavur. His village is very popular since every family in the village includes at least one government servant since 1930. He completed Law from Trichy Law College. While at Law College, he was associated with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). But after his break with the party, he formed MDMK aside Vaiko, Gengee Ramachandran, N. Kannappan and Nanjil Sampath. It happened following the political indifferences between Kalaignar and DMK Dominants. But at present he has joined Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. His wife was elected as Village President, Kannadangudi Panchyat in Tamil Nadu Local Body election 2011.
