Komal Kumar Biography

Komal Kumar, popularly known by the name, Komal is a popular comedian of Kannada movies. He is also a film producer and distributor. He has also played numerous second hero and supporting roles and has won state awards and Filmfare in this category. In 2003, he won Karnataka State Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for the movie, Thavarige Baa Tangi. In 2006, Neenello Naanalle gave him Filmfare supporting actor award and for the movie, Govindaya Namaha released in 2012, he received best comedian award at SIIMA Awards.

As a comedian he has worked in more than 100 movies and Chamkaisi chindi Udais marked his successful debut as a lead actor. He is the younger brother of comedy actor Jaggesh and together they have worked in many movies. His nephews Gururaj and Yethiraj are also actors. His wife Anasooya is a film producer and their home production company is "Soundarya Lahari Combines".

Komal’s studies were completed in Ooty. Komal was launched to film field by his brother-in-law - N. Srinivas, a film producer in 1992 where he played second hero role in Super nan Maga. Next year he appeared in lead hero role in Military Mawa. But this movie’s failure prompted him to accept character roles later. In association with his brother Jaggesh and his brother in law N. Srinivas, he did movies like Shivanna, Khiladi and Jipuna Nan Ganda. He played lead role in hero in Mr. Garagasa in 2008. But it was Chamkaisi chindi Udais, produced by his brother-in-law and wife that marked his successful career beginning as a lead actor. His wife has also produced the movie, Kal Manja. He acted as a solo hero in films -  Maryada Ramanna and Kal Manja.
