Kirti Adarkar Biography

Kirti Adarkar is an actress who predominantly works in Hindi entertainment industry. She is a film and theater artist, and also associated with regional cinema. Kirti has also appeared in several TV ads. Goshta Janmantarichi and Good bye doctor are her noted theatre works. She was most recently seen in 2016 critically acclaimed and National award winning Marathi film, Ventilator, where she played the character role of Lata. She regularly plays supporting roles onscreen. She played the role of Suman in Bollywood film, Baar Baar Dekho. Bhikari and The Rebellious Flower are her other noted movies.

 

Her maiden name is Kirti Puranik. She was born to Digambar Puranik, a celebrated architect in the Central Public Works Department and Vasudha Puranik. Due to her father’s transferable job, her childhood and teens were spent in various cities across the country. She entered the world of theater during her college days in JNU, Delhi. She also studied at Wilson College in Mumbai. Apart from acting, she also had a brief stint as play director during her theater days in Delhi. Goshta Janmantarichi and Good bye doctor are her major theater works.

 

As a film actress, her role as Osho Rajneesh’s grandmother in the highly acclaimed independent film "The Rebellious Flower" was well appreciated. Marathi film - Ventilator is yet another memorable role. She played Tarun’s girlfriend in Bollywood film, Baar Baar Dekho (2016), and the role gave a big break to Bollywood as well. She was also seen in brief roles in Neerja and Akira the same year. She has also appeared in a couple of television serials. She played the role of Rani Yesubai in Peshwa Bajirao and as Rajmata and Child Narad's mother in Narayan Narayan.
