Kiran Juneja Biography

Kiran Juneja is a Bollywood actress known for portraying character and supporting roles. She is the 
wife of famous Bollywood director, Ramesh Sippy of Sholay fame. She is the daughter-in-law of film 
producer, G. P. Sippy. Noted film director Rohan Sippy is her stepson. She portrayed the character of 
Veerawali in path breaking television series – Buniyaad in 1987, directed by her husband. It is one of 
the best performances of Kiran up-to-date. Tere Ghar Ke Saamne with Raju Kher in the late 1990s and 
Goddess Ganga in B. R. Chopra’s Mahabharata are other noted works. 


Kiran is active in television and Bollywood and has played supporting roles. Though she acted in 
both movies and television serials, it was ‘Buniyad’ which gave her instant popularity. Amba (1990), 
Humshakal (1992), Madam X (1994), Zamana Deewana (1995) and Barsaat (1995) are some of her 
earliest Bollywood appearances. Badmaash Company, Fashion, Marigold, Jab we met, Humshakal, 
Khosla Ka Ghosla, Chandini chowk to China, Zamaana Deewana, Krishh and Bunti aur Babli are some of 
her noted appearances in the recent times. She has also acted in Hollywood movie, The Other End of the 
Line in 2008. She made her film debut in 1987 playing Jeetendra’s sister in Mulzim and an Indo-Italian 
co-production film Shahleen.

More often she plays the lead protagonist's mother in Bollywood at present. Her role as soft spoken 
mother in Khosla Ka Ghosla was an instant hit. She played Rani Mukherji’s mother in Bunty aur babli 
and Priyanka Chopra’s mother in Krishh anf fashion. She portrayed Kareena Kapoor's mom in Jab We 
Met and all these movies proved to be box office hits as well. She played Deepika Padukone's mother in 
Chandini Chowk to china, a disaster.
