Kavi Shastri Biography

Kavi Shastri is a British actor of Indian origin. He has also worked in a few Indian movies. Shastri has completed 15 years in television industry beginning with Holby City in BBC One in 2001. UGetMe, The Bill and Fairy Tales are other noted works on English television. Later he worked in several Hindi television serials and Bollywood films. He was last seen in Akshay Kumar starrer Brothers, where he played the role of a commentator. Aurangzeb, Love Aaj Kal, Main Aur Mr. Right, Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, Amit Sahni Ki List and Happy New Year are other popular Bollywood roles. He is active in Indian films and television works since late 2000s.

Shastri was born into a Gujarati family in London in 1986. He has one elder brother. After schooling he studied at local dance and drama clubs. Also at the younger age of 9, he had enrolled into The Padmini Kholapuri School of Acting in London and has given some stage performances. In 1997 he enrolled at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, where he learnt theater as well as various contemporary dance forms and music. Thus he got a few bit roles for English television during his early teens, like ITV's This Morning and BBC One's Holby City. Later he appeared in the role of Ash in three seasons of the popular series on ITV – UgetMe.

He appeared in The Bill after finishing his college studies. He also played a bit role in in British feature film Popcorn. In 2009 he moved to India and got associated with Bollywood and television. He enrolled in Anupam Kher's Actor Prepares, and the first role he bagged was Saif Ali Khan starrer Love Aaj Kal. Rishta.com, Kismat and Love by Change are his television roles. He has performed with standup comedian Vir Das for live shows.
