Karuna Waghmare Biography 
Karuna Waghmare is India’s First International level women bodybuilder. Her maiden name is Karuna Swamy. Breaking boundaries, many females are now taking up bodybuilding as profession, which was solely meant for men earlier. She won ‘Miss India 2015 Fitness Physique’ title held at Satara in Maharashtra. She is being trained by Viraj Sarmalkar. She represented India at 46th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships in China. She won Miss India Fitness Physique 2012 Title too. She won 6th place in Women's Physique Amateur Olympia 2015 and is the first Indian woman to make this achievement at Olympia. She competed under Female Physique Fitness category.
She has been trained for the last 16 years. She is a Yoga expert and gymnast, and a dancer too. She has organized many fitness camps for women. She most recently launched Fitness Modeling Program in Mumbai to train fitness enthusiasts, models, actresses and aspiring bodybuilders to prepare them for international level competitions. She is a certified trainer. She has won several top honours in the domestic events held in India. She was honoured by Indian Body Building Federation (IBBF) at Bidar in Karnataka. She was the only female participant from India at the 46th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships for men, women, juniors and masters held at China in 2012.
When the selection for Amateur Olympia was conducted on 11 Oct 2015, she was suffering from typhoid and stomach infection. So she wore a track pant and t-shirt during the selection program. Yet IFFBB Head and AFBF General Secretary Mr Sanjay More showed confidence in her and backed her for the event. After completing treatment on 8th November she took rigorous training and she got hardly two weeks for preparation. Yet she managed to finish at position 6, which indeed is a great achievement.
