Karu Pazhaniappan Biography

Karu Pazhaniappan is a Tamil film director who shot to fame with his debut movie, Parthiban Kanavu released in 2003. The movie bagged him Tamil Nadu State Award for Best Director. Sivappathigaram, Pirivom Santhippom, Mandhira Punnagai, Sadhurangam and Jannal Oram are his other releases. He received State Award for Best Script Writer for the year 2011 – Sadhurangam. The movie with Srikanth was actually completed in 2006, but got released in 2011 only. He made his acting debut as a hero through his own directorial venture -Mandhira Punnagai in 2010. He did the movie as he wanted an actor without an image stuck on. Though the movie was a box office failure the director has decided to continue his career as an actor and desires to learn dance and fight as well.

Prior to directing movies, he has worked as an assistant under Ezhil for the movies - Thullatha Manamum Thullum, Pennin Manathai Thottu and Poovellam Un Vasam.        Known as a family specialist his movies are known to be clean fare for all ages. Parthipan Kanavu was a refreshing experience with Sheha playing double roles. Jannal Oram is his upcoming release. It is the Tamil remake of Malayalam blockbuster Ordinary released in 2012. The movie stars Parthiban, Vimal, Vidharth, Poorna and Manisha Yadav in lead roles.

Pazhaniappan belongs to Karaikudi of Tamil Nadu. He is the eldest of three siblings. Since childhood he was interested in reading and he learned this habit from his father who too was an avid reader. Later he developed interest in learning languages, writing, acting and elocution. He completed Master’s in English from Madurai Thiyagaraja College. But his intense passion to Tamil language brought him to student training course in Vikatan Group of Magazines. He reached Kollywood in 1994 as an assistant director and with Parthiban Kanavu released in 2003 he became an independent director.
