Kapil Sharma Biography

Kapil Sharma is an Indian stand-up comedian, actor and television host. He has been one of the leading entertainers of Indian television industry. He was the winner of comedy reality series, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge (Season 3) on STAR One, which made his a successful television star overnight. In 2010, he won Comedy Circus Ke SuperStars and Comedy Circus Ka Jadoo. In 2011, he won Jubilee Comedy Circus, Comedy Circus Ke Taansen and Comedy Circus Ka Naya Daur. In 2012, he won Kahani Comedy Circus Ki. He also co-hosted the first Punjabi international film awards in Toronto in 2012. In February 2013, Kapil was selected among top 100 celebrities in Forbes India magazines where he was ranked 96. Now he is hosting the successful television show, Comedy Nights with Kapil where many Indian celebrities as appearing and performing as guests to entertain the viewers. He acts as actor, scriptwriter and producer for the show.

Kapil was born on April 2, 1981 in Amritsar. He started his career as a comedian in many reality shows. He participated in a comedy reality show Ustaadon Ka Ustaad (2008) and co-hosted a comedy show Chhote Miyan (2008) with Juhi Parmar. In 2009, he joined the comedy reality show Hans Baliye as wildcard entry. He also co-hosted Great Indian Laughter Challenge Season IV with Chandan Prabhakar. He won Comedy Circus Ke Taansen and with his partner, actress Shweta Tiwari, he won comedy show Comedy Circus Ka Naya Daur. He finished second in Star Ya Rockstar, a singing talent hunt show.

Now his name is included among the top 100 Indian celebrities selected by Forbes magazine. He has successfully hosted many award nights including PTC punjabi film awards 2013, PIFAA Awards and Zee Cine Awards 2013. Now he is also presenting Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa - season 6, aside another standup comedian - Manish Paul.
