Kalyanasundaranar Biography 
Kalyanasundaranar was a popular lyricist of Tamil cinema before the era of Kannadasan started. He has written lyrics of many popular MGR songs in the 1950s. He passed away on October 8, 1959 at a very young age of 29 while he was at the peak of his career. He died from a medical accident, which is now classified as botched surgery. He was a popular Tamil poet too. His philosophic lyrics are quite popular even now. He has penned lyrics for 7 MGR movies and 11 Sivaji Ganesan movies. Versatile and popular Tamil poet Bharathidasan was his mentor.
He was born on April 13, 1930 in a middle class family in Sengapaduthankadu Village of Pattukkottai, Thanjavur. His father was a Tamil scholar and poet. He had 2 siblings, a brother and a sister. He married Gowravammal in 1957 and a son was born to then two years later, the same year when he died. Bharathidasan was his mentor and he worked his Bharathidasan’s magazine – Kuyil. Paditha Penn released in 1956 marked his career beginning in Tamil film world. He wrote lyrics for two songs for the movie. The movie was a delayed release and before that Maheswari starring Sivaji Ganesan in the lead role, got released. He got quick attention through the movie songs. The songs were composed by G. Ramanathan and the movie was directed by C. V. Sridhar. It started the new beginning of C. V. Sridhar – Kalyanasundaranar association which gave many memorable songs.
His career was so short (1954-1959), yet a golden one. He is most remembered for giving memorable lyrics for MGR movies. He wrote lyrics for Chakravarthi Thirumagal, Mahadhevi, Nadodi Mannan, Arasilangkumari, Thirudadhe, Vikramaadhithan and Kalai Arasi.
