Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao Biography 
Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao is a politician and parliamentarian from Andhra Pradesh. Currently he serves as the Member of Parliament from the Mahaboobnagar constituency of Telangana. He was the cabinet minister for Labour and Employment in the 15th Lok Sabha. He is the president of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. His daughter K. Kavitha is a political activist and active member of Telangana movement since 2009 who currently contests the 16th Lok Sabha elections from Nizamabad constituency. Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao is popularly abbreviated as KCR. His nephew Harish Rao is also a noted politician and the current MLA for the Siddipet constituency. TRS was part of the United Progressive Alliance coalition government, led by Congress.
He was born in 1954 in Chintamadaka village of Medak District. He completed Post-graduation in Telugu literature from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He married Shobha in 1969. He started his political career in the early 1970s when he got associated with youth Congress party in Medak district. Though Indira Gandhi got defeated by Raj Narain in 1977 Lok Sabha elections, he stood with the party. However he joined Telugu Desam Party in 1983 and contested the elections. But he lost to A. Madan Mohan.
But since the next Assembly elections, he won four consecutive Assembly elections from Siddipet between 1985 and 1999. In 1999 he was elected as the deputy speaker of the Andhra Assembly. In 2001 Rao resigned as Deputy Speaker and TDP MLA and formed the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). In 2004 he contested in Assembly elections and Lok sabha elections in two constituencies as TRS candidate and won both. He joined central government as alliance to Manmohan Singh’s government.
